Besan Laddoo

Ingredients

  • 1 cup besan flour (gram flour)

  • 3/4 cup caster sugar

  • 1/2 – 3/4 cup clarified butter

  • Cashew nuts, Almonds, Raisins (to your liking)

  • Teaspoon of milk

METHOD

  • Put 1/2 cup of the clarified butter into a heavy saucepan
  • Once the butter is slightly melted add the flour
  • Keep heating on a low flame and continuosly stirring
  • The cooking needs to continue until the mixture turns golden brown. The mixture consistency should not be dry but should remain wet, add a little more of the clarified butter if required
  • Once the mixture is reaches the required colour and consistency switch off the heat and add a teaspoon of milk
  • Let the mixture cool down completely, then add the dried fruits and nuts as you wish and the caster sugar
  • Divide the mixture into equal sizes and shape the laddoo (balls) with your hands
